Lisbon, Feb. 26, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed with losses on Thursday, with the PSI falling 0.30% to 9,267.91 points, bucking the trend of other European markets, pressured by declines in the EDP group and Mota-Engil.
Of the 16 listed companies that make up the national benchmark index, seven closed in negative territory and the remaining nine in the green.
The PSI was pressured by falls of more than 2% in the EDP group and Mota-Engil.
EDP Renováveis shares fell 2.67% to €13.14, one day after announcing to the market that it had made a profit of €216 million last year, an increase of €772 million compared to the loss in 2024.
The parent company fell 2.01% to €4.40, after also announcing on Wednesday that it closed 2025 with a net profit of €1.15 billion, an increase of 44% compared to around €800 million the previous year.
Meanwhile, shares in the Mota-Engil group fell 2.24% to €5.23.
Teixeira Duarte also posted losses of more than 1%, falling 1.53% to 51 cents, as did Corticeira Amorim, which fell 1.16% to €6.80.
On the other hand, two companies in the pulp and paper sector and NOS helped curb more significant falls in the national benchmark index.
Altri rose 1.45% to €4.90, while Navigator advanced 1.17% to €3.45.
The telecommunications company gained 1.39% to €5.11.
Among the heavyweights, BCP also stood out, gaining 0.94% to 92 cents per share, after announcing on Wednesday that it had recorded profits of €1,018.6 million in 2025, the highest ever and up 12.4% on 2024.
In the other main European markets, France's CAC-40 rose 0.72%, Germany's DAX gained 0.45%, Britain's FTSE 100 rose 0.37%, and Spain's IBEX-35 gained 0.19%.
