Lusa - Business News - Portugal: About 7,000 customers without electricity following January storm

Lisbon, Feb. 18, 2026 (Lusa) - Around 7,600 E-Redes customers in the areas affected by Storm Kristin, which swept across the continent on 28 January, were still without power at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, the company said.

In a statement, the company said it was focused on restoring power supplies.

In the note, the company reiterates its warning to the population that if they identify fallen or damaged electrical infrastructure, they should stay away and report the situation to E-Redes (800 506 506 or balcaodigital.e-redes.pt).

In its previous report, at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, E-Redes stated that around 9,000 customers in the areas affected by Storm Kirstin were without electricity.

E-Redes customers correspond to ‘energy delivery points’ such as homes, businesses or shops with electrical connections, making it difficult to quantify the number of people affected.

Sixteen people died in Portugal as a result of the Kristin, Leonardo and Marta storms, which also left many hundreds injured and homeless.

The total or partial destruction of homes, businesses and equipment, fallen trees and structures, road closures, schools and transport services, power, water and communications cuts, floods and flash floods are the main material consequences of the storm.

The Central, Lisbon and Tagus Valley and Alentejo regions were the most affected.

The state of emergency covering the 68 most affected municipalities ended on 15 February.
