Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes at highs not seen since June 2008

Lisbon, Feb. 9, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed on Monday at its highest level since June 2008, rising 1.13% to 8,991.17 points, with Teixeira Duarte and Mota-Engil leading the gains, rising 8.03% and 5.15%, respectively.

Of the 16 companies included in the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index) 14 rose, one fell and Ibersol remained unchanged at €11.05.

Civil engineering and construction groups, Teixeira Duarte and Mota-Engil were the companies that rose the most, closing at €0.54 and €5.10.

Altri rose 3.56% to €4.65, Navigator grew 2.59% to €3.33, and BCP closed with a 2.08% enhancement to €0.93.

Sonae (1.63% to €1.87), Semapa (1.57% to €22.7), CTT (1.50% to €7.42) and NOS (1.41% to €4.67) rose more than 1%.

Smaller gains were recorded by REN (0.85% to €3.54), EDP Renováveis (0.61% to €13.28), Jerónimo Martins (0.29% to €20.46), Galp (0.17% to €17.58) and EDP (0.14% to €4.33).

Only Corticeira Amorim fell, dropping 0.87% to €6.86.

The main indexes in European markets closed higher today, with Milan up 2.06%, Madrid 1.40%, Frankfurt 1.19%, Paris 0.60% and London 0.16%.
