ZAGREB, 26 Jan (Hina) - A documentary has been made about the International Children's Festival in Šibenik, highlighting the importance of one of the world's oldest festivals of its kind, and the film, "Be a Child" (Budi Dijete), will premiere on Thursday, 29 January at the Croatian National Theatre in Šibenik.
Produced over two years, the documentary traces the festival's history since its launch in 1960, including its continuity during the Croatian War of Independence, that is the 1991-1995 Homeland War and the shelling of this Dalmatian city.
The film portrays the spirit of the festival and its enduring ability to "awaken the child in everyone", according to the Šibenik Theatre, the umbrella institution of the Festival.
The film is produced by Unimedia, written and produced by Nikola Mihaljević, directed by Dario Bajurin, and shot by Ivan Mihaljević using state-of-the-art film technology.
Following its Šibenik premiere, the documentary will be screened in Zagreb and shown at festivals and on television in Croatia and abroad.
"Be a Child" is released ahead of the 66th International Children's Festival, which will take place earlier than ever before, from Saturday 13 to Wednesday 17 June.
