The average state pension granted to new women claimants in 2025 was 1,056 euros, 26,51% lower than the average for men of 1,437 euros, INPS said on Thursday.
The pensions-and-social-security agency said this figure included all pensions, including those regarding social benefits.
It said the average pension for women went up to 1,139 euros considering only people who retired last year, adding that the difference with respect to men remained largely the same, coming in at 26,28% less than the average for men of 1,545 euros.
It said factors behind the difference included the number of years of pension contributions and the salaries, in both cases lower on average for women.
