Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Lisbon stock market faring worst among European peers

Lisbon, Jan. 20, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market was among those that lost the most on Tuesday, falling 1.14% to 8,463.77 points, with Mota-Engil falling almost 5%, following the trend of the main European markets.

Of the 16 companies listed on the PSI index, only one rose: Galp, which advanced 1.07% to €16.07, while the rest fell.

Leading the declines was Mota-Engil, which fell 4.94% to €4.73, followed by Teixeira Duarte, which fell 4.32% to €0.58.

Altri (2.58% to €4.35), CTT (2.40% to €6.91) and Navigator (2.16% to €3.17) closed down more than 2%.

EDP Renováveis (1.97% to €12.42), Semapa (1.61% to €21.4), BCP (1.31% to €0.89), REN (1.21% to €3.28) and NOS (1.19% to €4.16).

 EDP (0.85% to €4.10), Sonae (0.80% to €1.74), Corticeira Amorim (0.74% to €6.73), Ibersol (0.49% to €10.1) and Jerónimo Martins (0.10% to €20.34).

The main European stock markets closed lower today, dragged down by increased tensions between the US and Europe. Madrid led the losses, falling 1.34%, followed by Milan, which fell 1.07%. London, Paris and Frankfurt fell by 0.67%, 0.61% and 1.03%, respectively.
