TIRANA, Jan 12 /ATA/ The “Great Dictionary of the Albanian Language” is now available online. It represents one of the three major Albanological initiatives, alongside “The History of the Albanians” and the “Albanian Encyclopedia”, led by the Academy of Sciences of Albania to celebrate and promote the nation’s identity, history, and millennia-old cultural heritage.

The Encyclopedic and Albanological Publishing Centre, along with other institutes of the Academy of Sciences, have shared the link for all users through the domain “fjalori.online”, providing free access to the dictionary. This step follows Decision No. 1, dated 6 January, issued by the Academy of Sciences.

The online platform has been designed to allow readers to interact with the dictionary across all digital devices.

Over the next nine months, feedback, suggestions, and additions will be collected to upgrade the dictionary. Following this period, the Dictionary Editorial Team and the Technical Coordinator will review all submissions and incorporate them within a three-month timeframe.

A large team of compilers, editors, and proofreaders worked on the “Great Dictionary of the Albanian Language”, under the stewardship of Academician Jani Thomai as Chief Editor, alongside two Deputy Chief Editors, Academician Valter Memishaj and Prof. Dr. Shezai Rrokaj.

Next year, the dictionary will be released in ten volumes. It serves as an indispensable resource for writers and journalists, academics and students, teachers and university lecturers, researchers, and anyone involved in the use, study, and preservation of the Albanian language.

It serves as a valuable tool for anyone working with both written and spoken language, including literary authors, translators, and those involved in compiling dictionaries of various kinds.
