Lisbon, Jan. 9, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Friday, rising 0.40% to 8,520.34 points, with Galp once again leading the gains, advancing 3.55%, with most European markets also ending the week in the green.
Of the 16 companies included in the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Stock Index), 10 rose and six fell.
For the second consecutive day, Galp was the company that rose the most, settling at €15.45, following Thursday's announcement of an agreement with Spain's Moeve to move towards the potential integration of their oil refining and processing (“downstream”) businesses in the Iberian Peninsula, creating two European energy platforms - one industrial and the other focused on mobility.
Altri also closed higher, advancing 2.69% to €4.58 (on a broker upgrade), as did Semapa, with a rise of 1.17% to €21.55.
Also on the rise, but growing less than 1%, were EDP (0.96% to €4.09), Navigator (0.74% to €3.26), Corticeira Amorim (0.73% to €6.87), NOS (0.73% to €4.14), Ibersol (0.61% to €9.96), Jerónimo Martins (0.48% to €21.06) and REN (0.30% to €3.37).
Leading the declines were the two civil engineering and construction companies on the PSI, Teixeira Duarte, which fell 1.85% to €0.64, followed by Mota-Engil, which lost 1.65% to €5.07.
CTT, closed falling 1.60% to €7.39.
Sonae (-0.60% to €1.67), EDP Renováveis (-0.39% to €12.64) and BCP (-0.32% to €0.88) also closed in negative territory.
The main European markets closed mostly higher today, with Madrid being the exception, falling 0.03%. London advanced 0.80%, Paris 1.44%, Frankfurt 0.53% and Milan 0.10%.
