Italy's unemployment rate dropped to 5.7% in November, down 0.1 of a percentage point on October to take it the lowest level on record since the start of the statistical series in 2004, according to provisional data released by Istat on Thursday.
    The national statistics agency said the jobless rate for under-25s who are active on the labour market fell by 0.8 of a point to 18.8%.
    It added, however, that the inactivity rate rose by 0.2 of a point to 33.5%.
    Istat said 24.188 million people were in employment in Italy in November 2025, a drop of 34,000 on October but up by 179,000 on the same month in 2024.
    It said the employment rate was down by 0.1 of point with respect to October at 62.6%, adding that this was still 0.3 of a point higher than in November 2024.
