Italy's annual inflation rate rose to 1.2% in December, up from 1.1% in November, according to provisional data released by Istat in Wednesday.
The national statistics agency said its consumer price index was up 0.2% in month-on-month terms.
It said core inflation, excluding energy and unprocessed food, was up 1.8, compared to 1.7% in November, and inflation excluding energy was 1.9%, down from 2.0%.
Istat said its 'shopping trolley' index of the prices for food, household goods, and personal care products rose sharply to 2.2% from 1.5% in November.
It said consumer prices rose by 1.5% on average in Italy in 2025 over the previous year, up from 1.0% in 2024.
