Compared to the previous quarter, the service production price index rose 2.4% between July and September, compared to a change of 4.7% in the previous period and 2.5% in the same period last year.

The average rate of change for the year ending in the third quarter of 2025 was 3.3%, compared to 3.4% for the year ending in the second quarter of 2025.

Analysing the various service sectors, INE notes that, in the third quarter of last year, "administrative and support services" made the largest contribution (1.5 percentage points) to the total year-on-year change, representing an acceleration of 2.7 percentage points compared to the second quarter.

The statistical institute highlights the performance of "rental activities" and "travel agencies, tour operators, other reservation services and related activities", with year-on-year variations of 16.1% and 11.7%, respectively (-7.1% and 23.6% in the previous quarter).

The "transport and storage" section was the only one to record a negative year-on-year variation, standing at -0.4% (1.2% in the second quarter) and contributing -0.1 percentage points to the total year-on-year variation in the service production price index.

"In this section, the negative year-on-year changes in “air transport”, with -2.5% (-9.8 percentage points compared to the previous quarter) and in “storage and auxiliary transport activities”, with -4.3% (-4.4% in the previous two quarters) are noteworthy," details INE.
