Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with PSI up 0.8% on first full trading day of 2026

Lisbon, Jan. 5, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Monday, the first full day's trading in 2026, with the PSI index rising 0.82% to 8,469.61 points and 15 stocks in the green, in line with the rest of Europe.

Of the 16 stocks that make up the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index), 15 rose and Sonae SGPS fell 0.12% to €1.64.

Leading the gains was CTT, which rose 2.29% to €7.59.

Among the main gains were Jerónimo Martins, which rose 1.76% to €20.76, EDP Renováveis, which rose 1.43% to €12.76, and Navigator, which rose 1.31% to €3.25.

With increases of less than 1% were EDP (€4.04), Teixeira Duarte (€0.65), REN (€3.27), Galp (€14.72), Ibersol (€9.94), BCP (€0.91), NOS (€4.06), Corticeira Amorim (€6.83), Semapa (€21.60), Altri (€4.56) and Mota-Engil (€5.01).

Elsewhere in Europe, the main indexes in Frankfurt rose 1.34%, Madrid 0.70%, London 0.54% and Paris 0.20%.
