Luanda, Dec. 26, 2025 (Lusa) - Angolan oil concessionaire ANPG has announced the start of production at the N'dola Sul Project, which is expected to produce around 25,000 barrels of oil per day and 50 million cubic feet of gas.
In a statement released on Christmas Day, the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) said that Block 0 is operated by Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited (CABGOC), a subsidiary of Chevron in Angola, and includes, with their respective participating interests, Sonangol E. P. (41%), TotalEnergies (10%) and Azule Energy (9.8%).
According to the statement, the announcement of the "first oil" symbolises the start of oil production destined for the Malongo Terminal in Cabinda, while the associated gas will be sent to the Angola LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) plant, contributing to the strengthening of the national energy infrastructure.
For ANPG President Paulino Jerónimo, quoted in the press release, "the first oil from the N'dola Sul Project represents a new successful step in the set of investments in the sector by partners who are focusing on Angola."
"It also represents a new milestone in the contribution of Angolan local content, given that the bulk of the structure was manufactured in our territory and by national staff, in accordance with international standards of quality and environmental preservation," he stressed.
The document highlights that a considerable part of the metal structure of the N'dola Sul Project was manufactured in the provinces of Cuanza Sul and Cabinda.
"It is a platform consisting of a jacket weighing approximately 1,100 tonnes, about 73 metres high, built in Porto Amboim, Cuanza Sul province, while the upper surfaces, weighing about 600 tonnes, were manufactured in Malembo and assembled in Malongo, Cabinda province," the statement said.
The project, with 12 wells, situated 60 kilometres offshore Cabgoc's Malongo base, includes a 15-kilometre-long production pipeline running from the platform to the Mafumeira complex, an extension of the Mafumeira Production and Processing Platform deck, which receives production from N'dola Sul and channels it through its processing system.
According to Chevron's managing director for Southern Africa, Frank Cassulo, "this project exemplifies CABGOC's commitment to promoting local content in Angola and developing resources efficiently in the Block 0 concession."
In the process of constructing the N'dola Sul platform, a minimal installation method was applied, taking advantage of the processing capacity available at the Mafumeira complex and a solar energy system, with batteries powering the installation, demonstrating the sector's commitment to sustainable development, according to those responsible.
During construction, the project created more than 800 jobs for Angolans in Cabinda and Cuanza Sul and awarded several contracts to local business partners.
