Lisbon, Dec. 24, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market continues to fall on Wednesday morning, maintaining its opening trend, with nine of the 16 stocks listed on the PSI seeing their prices fall at the start of the session.
At 9:00 a.m. in Lisbon, on this shortened trading session, the main index of the Portuguese stock exchange, the PSI (Portuguese Share Index), was down 0.22% to 8,151.02 points, with nine stocks down and five up.
Sonae and Corticeira Amorim remained at the same figure as the opening, trading at €1.60 and €6.64 per share, respectively.
The biggest losses were seen in Mota-Engil and Ibersol, whose share prices were falling by 1.20% and 1.01% to €4.96 and €9.80.
Also in the red were Teixeira Duarte (-0.63% to €0.64), REN (-0.47% to €3.18) and Jerónimo Martins (-0.30% to €20.02).
CTT and BCP were both losing 0.27% to €7.32 and €0.89, respectively, and energy companies Galp and EDP were down 0.24% to €14.36 and 0.18% to €3.86.
In the opposite direction, the biggest rise was seen in Semapa, which announced last week the sale of its cement company Secil to Spanish counterpart Molins for €1.4 billion. Semapa's share price was rising 0.72% to €20.95 an hour after the opening.
Also in the green were Altri, which was gaining 0.57% to €4.38, Navigator, rising 0.33% to €3.07, EDP Renováveis, up 0.17% to €11.80, and Nos, rising 0.13% to €3.99.
On the Lisbon stock market, as on others across Europe, today's session will be shorter due to Christmas Eve.
In a session where less liquidity is expected, the main European stock exchanges were trading without a clear direction, with some closed, such as Frankfurt and Milan.
As for raw materials, an ounce of gold was trading at US$4,232.4 and a barrel of Brent crude - the benchmark for Europe - was rising 0.10% to US$62.01.
Bitcoin was up to US$92,694.4.
On Tuesday, Wall Street ended in negative territory. The selective Dow Jones fell 0.38% to 47,560.29 points and the broader S&P500 fell 0.09% to 6,840.51 points, while the technology-heavy Nasdaq gained 0.13% to 23,576.49 points.
