Porto, Dec. 9, 2025 (Lusa) - The Portuguese government plans to support the creation of a Tourism Training Hotel in Mozambique, according to the final declaration of the sixth Portugal-Mozambique summit, which took place in Porto on Tuesday.
"In the tourism sector, they committed to intensifying cooperation in several areas, namely professional training, qualification of supply, promotion, innovation and knowledge, seeking to increase tourist flows between the two countries," according to the final declaration of the summit, which was attended by Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro and Mozambican President Daniel Chapo, as well as around 20 ministers from both governments.
"They also expressed their commitment to the timely creation of a Tourism Hotel School in Mozambique, involving the private sector," the final statement said.
In the field of culture, the statement added, the two governments "noted the progress achieved in bilateral cooperation in the areas of heritage, the arts and audiovisual media".
"They committed to strengthening cultural and artistic exchanges, promoting training and mobility for creators, and deepening collaboration in the preservation of common heritage and the development of new initiatives in the Portuguese-speaking world. They highlighted the role of the Portuguese language as a vehicle for cultural proximity and identity between the two peoples and, in this context, its role in education and culture," it pointed out.
In the agricultural sector, the two parties "reaffirmed their commitment to promoting innovative, resilient and sustainable agriculture, as well as inclusive rural development" and "reinforced the goal of transforming food systems and contributing to the fulfilment of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda".
