Lisbon, Dec. 2, 2025 (Lusa) - The Portuguese car market grew by 6.6% between January and November, with 239,843 new vehicles put into circulation, according to data released by ACAP - Associação Automóvel de Portugal (Portuguese Automobile Association) on Tuesday.
From January to November 2025, 239,843 new vehicles were put into circulation, representing an increase of 6.6% over the same period last year," it said in a statement.
In November, 20,245 motor vehicles were registered, an increase of 4.5% over the same month in 2024.
By market, 204,160 passenger cars were registered in the year to date, up 7.7%.
As detailed by the association, 69.3% of new passenger cars registered were powered by alternative fuels, namely electric and hybrid.
In turn, the light commercial vehicle market grew by 0.3% to 28,803 units in this period.
By November, registrations of heavy vehicles had risen to 6,880 units, up 1.7% compared to the same period in 2024.
In another statement, ACAP reported that the electric vehicle market grew by 32.6% up to November, with 127,660 units registered.
Passenger car registrations accounted for 124,215 units, up 32.1%.
The light goods vehicle market reached 3,225 units, a 55% increase compared to 2024, while heavy vehicle registrations rose 86.4% to 220 vehicles.
