Lisbon, Nov. 27, 2025 (Lusa) - TAP has postponed Thursday's flight to Guinea-Bissau until Friday, one day after the military seized power in that African country, according to an official source at the airline.
The flight was due to depart Lisbon at 14:40, bound for Bissau, and is now scheduled for Friday at the same time.
According to the airline, passengers have been informed of this change.
TAP operates three weekly flights to Bissau on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, according to the carrier's website.
The Guinean military announced on Wednesday that it had seized power, one day before Guinea-Bissau's National Electoral Commission was to announce the results of Sunday's general election.
General Horta Inta-A was sworn in today as the transitional President of Guinea-Bissau in a ceremony held at the Guinean Armed Forces General Staff Headquarters, one day after the military seized power.
The information is being reported on Guinean social media networks, namely Guinea-Bissau Television (TGB).
The day after the vote, on Monday, opposition candidate Fernando Dias claimed victory in the first round against the President of the Republic, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, who was running for a second term.
Since its independence from Portugal, Guinea-Bissau has suffered five coups d'état, 17 coup attempts and a series of government changes.
