ATA - Artistic evening with Edi Hila at Villa31 x Art Explora in Tirana

TIRANA, October 26 /ATA/ “Broken Horizons” was the title of the artistic conversation with painter Edi Hila held on Saturday evening.

The visual artist spoke with Corinne Diserens, an internationally renowned art historian and curator and Joa Ljungberg, curator at the Museum of Modern Art in Malmo, Sweden. The two participants in “Broken Horizons” are also representatives of the museums where Hila will present his works of art.

The meeting, moderated by Edi Muka, took place at Villa31 x Art Explora, now transformed into an artistic residency. Present were artists and art lovers, young people, art students, etc.

Edi Hila is one of the most important figures of the artistic scene not only in Albania, but in the entire region. He is a painter who has immortalized on canvas the transformation of Albania, but also the unstable reality of the world in which we live. Edi Hila was born in Shkodra in 1944, but lives and works in Tirana.

This year, the Hamburg Art Museum and the Malmö Modern Museum (Sweden) will open comprehensive exhibitions of his works of art. These are the first solo exhibitions of Edi Hila in Germany and Sweden.

Edi Hila made his artistic debut in the 1970s and 1980s, but was forced by the then communist regime to abandon his career in painting, which he resumed with the fall of the dictatorship.

His work is represented in museum collections such as: Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw; Musée national d’art modern Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Fonds municipal d’art contemporan de la Ville de Paris; FRAC Pays de la Loire, France; FRAC Auvergne, France, as well as in the National Gallery of Arts, Tirana. /r.e/p.s./
