Pistoia in northern Tuscany is the Italian Book Capital 2026, Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli announced Friday.
A jury of experts and representatives of the finalist municipalities, gathered in the Sala della Crociera at the Collegio Romano for the proclamation.
The other finalist cities for the title were Carmagnola (Turin), Perugia, Nardò (Lecce), and Tito (Potenza).
The dossier submitted by the city unanimously chosen by the jury is titled: "Pistoia: the adventure of reading, the courage to build the future." The winning municipality will receive a grant of half a million euros to implement the program.
