Lisbon, Oct. 16, 2025 (Lusa) - The Secretary of State for Simplification, Paulo Magro da Luz, said on Thursday that "being digital is no longer a differentiating factor", categorising digitalisation as a "prerequisite for growth, resilience and sovereignty".
"We see that our companies have the talent and creativity to lead the digital world, but sometimes they are held back by fragmentation, complexity and administrative burdens that create a lack of capacity to move forward and face their international competitors," he said at the "B9+ European Digital Summit" conference organised by CIP in Lisbon.
In his speech, the Secretary of State highlighted the government's strategic priorities, including "simplifying and harmonising regulations" to create a "more favourable environment for companies to thrive across borders".
Paulo Magro da Luz emphasised the government's intentions and said that it will accelerate the "digital transformation in the administration and public services, with a focus on serving citizens and companies with agility, not bureaucracy".
"For us, simplification and digitalisation are not a one-off reform, they must be a permanent goal and mindset," he added.
He also reiterated that the "digital strategy action plan" will be "launched soon".
