TIRANA, September 25/ATA/ Gjirokastra does not only attract visitors for its historical heritage and architecture, but also with cultural activities that give life to the cobble-stone streets.

Thus, in Traditional Bazaar of Gjirokastra, the citizens and tourists attended “Identity that unites times” event. The event was organized by the city municipality in the framework of the “European Cultural Heritage Days” and the “National Cultural Heritage Day”.

Young people and schoolchildren paraded in modern clothing combined with traditional elements. The students also opened an exhibition with their works made of recyclable materials. Meanwhile, in another corner of the bazaar, there were exhibited traditional Gjirokastra dishes.

Finally, the activity closed with a concert with polyphonic elements by the children of the “Fato Berberi” Children’s Cultural Center.

Also within the framework of the European Cultural Heritage Days, in Gjirokastra there was held the International Scientific Conference “Archaeological Excavations in Antigone and Gjirokastra, Heritage Assessment and Opportunities for Cultural Tourism”.

Albanian and Italian researchers, archaeologists, and specialists in cultural monuments participated.

During the conference, there were presented the latest archaeological discoveries at the Antigone site and beyond, which also expand the map of tourist attractions. /j.p/p.s./
