Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market inverts opening trend, trading lower

Lisbon, Sept. 17, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market was trading lower on Wednesday, around an hour after opening, with four shares remaining unchanged.

At around 09:00 in Lisbon, the PSI reversed the opening trend and was down 0.15% to 7,726.12 points, with four shares rising, seven falling and four remaining unchanged.

The biggest variations were in CTT, which lost 1.48% to €7.33, and Mota-Engil, which fell 1.28% to €5.03, more than BCP, which fell 0.84% to €0.71.

Also in negative territory were NOS (-0.51% to €3.88), REN (-0.34% to €2.94) and Sonae (-0.30% to €1.31).

Conversely, Ibersol was the biggest gainer, rising 0.50% to €10.15.

There were also gains in EDP Renováveis (0.31% to €9.84), Navigator (0.06% to €3.28) and EDP (0.03% to €3.83).

At the same time, Altri, Corticeira Amorim, Jerónimo Martins and Semapa remained unchanged compared to the opening, at €5.02, €7.49, €21.26 and €18.16 respectively.

The main European stock markets opened in positive but cautious territory today, on the day that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) decision on a predictable interest rate cut will be announced.

The US is preparing for the Fed's first interest rate cut in nine months, which is expected to be a quarter point.

The European performance comes after markets on Wall Street closed slightly down, also awaiting the Fed's decision.
