ZAGREB, 12 Sept (Hina) - Croatia has been awarded the hosting rights for the UEFA Women’s Futsal European Championship, which will take place in Osijek from 14 to 21 March 2027, it was decided at an UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Tirana.
For the first time, the tournament will feature eight of Europe’s top national teams, expanding from previous editions that included only four sides.
This will mark the fifth time Croatia hosts the final stage of a UEFA national team competition, following the UEFA Regions’ Cup finals in 2009, the Futsal Euro in 2012, the Under-17 European Championship in 2017, and the Under-19 Futsal Euro in 2023.
“Futsal has a rich tradition in Croatia and is currently the most attended and watched indoor sport in the country,” said HNS president Marijan Kustić, who participated in the meeting as member of the UEFA Executive Committee.
“This tournament will be an excellent boost for the further development of women’s futsal... I am confident tht all participants will experience the outstanding hospitality and the beauty of Osijek, Slavonia, and Croatia.”
