Awildfire that broke out on Vesuvius on Saturday raged on on Monday.
    Firefighters and water-dumping Canadairs have been fighting the blaze, which is believed to have been deliberately started, for the last 48 hours.
    The fire in the volcano's park, which has consumed hundreds of hectares of vegetation, is visible from space.
    Mostly arson wildfires have destroyed over 56,000 hectares of forest and farmland this year, more than the total for 2024.
