Maputo, July 22, 2025 (Lusa) - The Chinese company Yucheng Group announced on Tuesday that it will proceed with the installation of a non-ferrous metal recycling industrial park in Mozambique, with an annual capacity of one million tonnes.
“The total production volume will be around one million tonnes per year. We will create around 3,000 jobs, and it will also bring in significant foreign currency revenue,” said Chen Xinzhi, representative of the Chinese company Yucheng Group, after a meeting in Maputo with Mozambican President Daniel Chapo.
He also said he hoped to move forward with the project “as quickly as possible” after receiving assurances from the Mozambican head of state about the conditions for the initiative to go ahead.
“Mozambique's president welcomed us warmly and gave us confidence that we will work well here in Mozambique,” said Chen Xinzhi.
China is the African continent’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching $167.8 billion (€151.8 billion) in the first half of the year.
