Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Nabeiro-Delta Cafés sales up 18% in H1 to €324M - CEO

Lisbon, July 16, 2025 (Lusa) - The CEO of the Nabeiro-Delta Cafés Group said on Tuesday that turnover grew 18% in the first half of the year to €324 million, driven by higher raw material prices and performance in Spain.

Rui Miguel Nabeiro was speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the launch of the Delta House brand, which brings together the group’s food brands under a single identity, at Praça do Império, in Belém, Lisbon.

From a turnover perspective, “we grew 18% in the first half, obviously I have to say this, largely driven by price increases, because raw materials forced us to raise prices,” said the manager when asked about the issue.

“The first half was positive, and we maintained our volume despite these [coffee price] increases; we now focus on addressing that,” he added.

He highlighted the “excellent performance in the first half” in Spain, which “continues to grow above 20%, which is very positive.”

The group has also achieved an “excellent performance” in Poland, with a market share of around 30%, alongside Biedronka, a Polish retailer belonging to the Jerónimo Martins group. The group also followed Biedronka’s expansion into Slovakia.

In 2024, the group recorded a 14% increase in turnover to €570 million, with Spain performing better than ever.

The CEO also stressed that he is maintaining the goal of reaching the ’top 10’ coffee brands worldwide.

“We have 12 floors still to go,” and “we are continuing on this path, and this strategy [of the Delta House ’umbrella’ brand] will also help us,” the manager emphasised when asked about the subject.

As for the outlook for the second half of the year, the CEO said he was “optimistic”.

The CEO of the Nabeiro-Delta Cafés Group said he would announce the amount invested in the new brand at a later date.

“It was a major investment that not only led us to change the structure of the website, but also the platform we use. We held a large tender and adopted an international platform that will help improve our sales,” as well as “the shopping experience in the online store,” he said, emphasising that he was happy with this change.

This “shows that the Nabeiro group has a wider range of brands than just Delta,” he pointed out.

The group’s non-coffee area (around 70 brands) represents 22% of turnover, and “we let this area grow naturally, and today it represents €120 million in this category, most of which are products distributed by the group.”

“In particular, Portugal and Angola have a very large share of these categories, which include more than our brands and are now a very large universe for us,” he said.

Among the various brands in the coffee, food and beverage portfolio are Delta Cafés, Delta Q, Go Chill, Belíssimo, Adega Mayor, Tetley, Corona, Stella Artois and Unboring Snacks, among others.

Delta House “is a seal of quality from the Nabeiro group for all the brands we represent, which is the brand’s great advantage”.

Regarding the possibility of expanding the brand portfolio, the CEO noted that, from an innovation perspective, there are always new brands they are considering.

Regarding the new website www.thedeltahouse.com, it is now available in Portugal. Spain, France, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Brazil will also have the online store.

According to the group, with an average of 10,000 visitors per day, “it has seen a 20% growth in the average value of purchases since its launch”.
