APS - Two Algerian olive oil brands win awards at international contest in Italy

ALGIERS — Two Algerian olive oil brands were distinguished during the international contest “EVO IOOC,” an annual event dedicated to extra virgin olive oil, held in Italy.

The winners are “Dahbia,” which took home the gold medal, and “Chibi,” which earned a silver medal, according to official results published on the competition’s website.

Dahbia olive oil, which has already excelled in several international competitions in Japan, Greece, Italy, France and Switzerland, is produced by Hakim Alileche’s agricultural operation spanning over 40 hectares in the Benhar region in Aïn Ouessara.

As for “Chibi” olive oil, it has been produced since 1920 in Tirmitine in Tizi Ouzou province by a family-owned company. It too has won awards at several international competitions, notably in Germany and the United Kingdom.
