Italy's unemployment rate was 5.9% in April, down 0.2 of a percentage point on March, according to provisional data released by Istat on Tuesday.
The national statistics agency said the jobless rate for under-25s who are active on the labour market was down by 1.2 points to 19.2%.
It said the inactivity rate for the working-age population rose 0.1 of a point to 33.2%.
Istat said 24.2 million people were in employment in Italy in April, a figure that is stable with respect to March.
It said the employment rate was stable too at 62.7%.
The agency said the number of people in work was up by 282,000 compared to April 2024.
It said the number of people employed on permanent contracts rose by 345,000, the self-employed increased by 110,000 and the number of temporary workers dropped by 173,000.
