ZAGREB, 24 May (Hina) - Split-Dalmatia County's Tourist Board on Friday presented the county’s bid for the title of European Region of Gastronomy 2027, in the presence of the evaluation panel from the International Institute for Gastronomy, Culture, Art, and Tourism (IGCAT), which oversees the selection process.
The presentation of the candidacy was held in Split.
Tourist Board director Ivana Vladović said that the candidacy would support the realisation of the region’s strategic direction.
"This candidacy allows us to step onto the global stage through international channels and gives us the opportunity to share the story of our authenticity and tradition. In doing so, we are attracting the type of visitors we want, those who come for local culture, travel throughout the year, are willing to pay for quality service, and stay longer," said Vladović.
During their visit to the county, members of the evaluation panel were informed of the local gastronomic scene, sustainable practices, and the community’s commitment to preserving tradition and authenticity.
IGCAT President Diane Dodd said that this is an important step in the process of earning the title of European Region of Gastronomy 2027. Dodd described the experience in Dalmatia as an inspiring journey, highlighting the exceptional passion, authenticity, and dedication shown by all participants.
