ZAGREB, 5 April (Hina) - The tenth edition of the Olive Festival in Zagreb was officially opened on Saturday in The Westin hotel, with olive oil enthusiasts and experts from the region gathering for a two-day event that includes educational lectures, workshops, and an exhibition programme.
As part of the jubilee edition, 448 samples of olive oils from Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro were evaluated, of which 375 were extra virgin. A total of 170 samples won the gold medal for high quality.
The festival was opened by Agriculture Ministry State Secretary Tugomir Majdak, who was the envoy of the Prime Minister, and by Srećko Gross, President of the Zagreb Olive Institute.
The event continues tomorrow from 9 AM to 6 PM, and entry is free for all visitors, according to the organisers' press release.
