‘Work of our news team in Syria will be very important in telling of real developments in Syria … Our cooperation and solidarity with SANA is very valuable for us,’ says Anadolu’s deputy director general

DAMASCUS, Syria
A delegation led by Yusuf Ozhan, Anadolu’s deputy director general and editor-in-chief, met with officials from the Syrian News Agency (SANA) in Syria's capital Damascus.
Ozhan, Global News Director Faruk Tokat, and his entourage visited SANA and exchanged views with the agency’s director general, Ziyad Muheymid.
During the meeting, Ozhan expressed wishes that the new era in Syria would be auspicious for everyone. He expressed his happiness to have witnessed the great hopes that have been raised in all sectors of society and media workers after the fall of the Baath regime.
Ozhan noted that he is happy to have the opportunity to cooperate and share experiences with his colleagues in Syria in a free environment in the new era.
Speaking about Anadolu's international structure, Ozhan said that the news agency operates in 137 countries and has offices and broadcasting centers in 39 countries.

Ozhan emphasized that Anadolu is the leading international reference source in conflict zones and that the agency attaches special importance to news operations in Syria, Ukraine, and Palestine.
Ozhan stated that they provide war journalism training program to reporters, photojournalists, and cameramen working in conflict zones at Anadolu’s News Academy and that they contribute to their colleagues' ability to perform their duties in the safest and most efficient way by opening this training to journalists from all over the world.
Saying that Anadolu will continue to strengthen its news organization across the country in the new era in Syria, Ozhan said: “The work of our news team in Syria will be very important in telling real developments in Syria to the world. In this context, our cooperation and solidarity with SANA are very valuable for us.”
‘Not a friend but a sister agency’
SANA Director General Muheymid said that the agency continues its activities with 560 employees and that the ousted Bashar Assad regime weakened the institutional infrastructure, but that they will redress this as soon as possible and continue their way with strength.
Muheymid affirmed their commitment to accurately presenting Syria's positive agenda domestically and internationally, expressing his pleasure at fostering a strong partnership with Anadolu.
“Anadolu Agency is not a friend but a sister agency for SANA,” Muheymid said, thanking Anadolu for its work in Syria on behalf of Ozhan.
SANA plans to dedicate the next three years to documenting and publishing the atrocities and human rights violations committed by the Baath regime over 61 years, with the aim of presenting this evidence to the ICC, he said.
At the meeting's conclusion, Ozhan presented Muheymid with Anadolu’s book The Evidence, which details Israel’s crimes in Gaza.
