Lisbon, March 12, 2025 (Lusa) - The chief executive officer (CEO) of Portugal's Nabeiro - Delta Cafés Group has expressed concern that the country will once again go to parliamentary elections, as instability, which is "not very friendly" to the economy at a time of international uncertainty.
Rui Miguel Nabeiro was speaking to journalists on Wednesday at the end of the presentation of the launch of the new Amboim coffee brand by Delta The Coffee House Experience, which is a tribute to the coffee produced by 12 women in Angola and which represents a partnership with the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Porto Amboim, Kwanza Sul province, Angola.
"I look at this with some concern, at a time when Europe is going through very uncertain times, even in its relationship with the United States," said the manager.
The motion of confidence in the minority coalition PSD/CDS-PP government was voted down in parliament on Tuesday with the PS, Chega, BE, PCP, Livre and PAN's sole MP, Inês Sousa Real, voting against. In favour were the PSD, CDS-PP and the Liberal Initiative.
"I don't know if it was avoidable or not, it's not up to me to assess that", but “just to say that I view the whole situation with some concern”, insisted the CEO of the Nabeiro - Delta Cafés Group.
"Instability is not very friendly to the economy and at a time (...) when we are experiencing international uncertainty," the situation generates concern, since “all we don't need in our country at the moment is a situation like this,” he concluded.
