TIRANA, March 8/ATA/ In the framework of International Women’s Day, at the premises of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs there was held an event with the theme “March 8 – Women who build Peace – Diplomacy, Power, Commitment”.
This event brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps to Albania, international partners and Foreign Ministry staff.
Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani praised in his remarks the role and contribution of women in diplomacy, a field that has seen significant and continuous transformations over the past few years.
“Albanian women are an inseparable part of diplomacy and have contributed to strengthening international relations, opening up new opportunities for development and peace. This important change is the result of continuous efforts to create a more equal and inclusive society and diplomacy”, he said.
Minister Hasani also shared with the attendees some positive figures regarding the number of women who are part of the Albanian diplomatic staff, facts that according to him constitute extraordinary achievements and are evidence of the great transformations that are taking place in Albania.
“In the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, women today constitute 59% of the Albanian diplomatic staff, with a total of 300 of them working in the Albanian foreign service”.
According to him, the role of women in diplomacy has a significant impact on peace and security policy.
“When women get involved in peace processes, agreements are more likely to last and be sustainable. So, they are not only part of the solution, but they are also the catalysts that contribute to the achievement of these agreements”, Hasani underlined, also adding that the support and promotion of equal opportunities for women in all areas, including diplomacy, will continue without interruption. /p.s./
