APS - Air Algérie: Nearly 8 million passengers transported in 2024

ALGIERS- The airline company, "Air Algérie, " has transported nearly 8 million passengers in 2024, i.e. an increase of 10% compared to 2023, announced the company’s CEO on Tuesday in Algiers, Hamza Benhamouda.

During a press conference devoted to the company’s 2024 results and its objectives for the current year, Benhamouda said that Air Algérie transported over 7.9 million passengers in 2024, marking a "notable" increase of 10%.

An 8% increase in the number of passengers is expected during the current year, he added.

This performance was achieved through 79,100 flights, with 200 to 250 flights per day, according to Benhamouda.

These results "reflect the growing trust of customers in the services provided by the company and reaffirm its constant commitment to meeting their expectations,” he stressed.

Regarding the reimbursement of customers holding unused tickets during the COVID-19 health crisis, the CEO said that more than 10,000 tickets were refunded in 2024, stressing that "the review of the remaining cases is still ongoing."

Referring to the company’s performance indicators, the executive highlighted the main awards received by the national airline in 2024, including the Excellence Award from Dubai Airport and the award from Moscow Airport for the best airline in terms of baggage transport per passenger.

These awards "illustrate the importance of collective work and dedication to providing best services,” he said.

Moreover, the company is focusing on developing its human resources through "the launch of the Air Algérie Training Academy project," announced last year in order to keep up the same momentum.

The CEO further noted that this project represents "an ambitious step aimed at building a new generation of exceptional talent."

When asked about disruptions in flight schedules affecting Air Algérie last December, the executive said that "more than 73% of the recorded delays were primarily due to weather conditions and the high traffic volumes at international airports during the end-of-year holiday season."
