TIRANA, December 28 /ATA/ In addition to the significant increase of salaries of the members the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense is also investing rapidly in weapons.

Minister of Defense Pirro Vengu said today that the human capital and upgrade of the weapons have the priority.

Vengu shared a video message in the social media showing the snipers of the special forces who are already using the 12.7 mm caliber sniper rifles.

Vengu emphasized that this weapon significantly increases the capacities and capabilities of the Armed Forces in specific operations.

“Sniper is a role that requires skill, target, but also modern weapons. The Albanian Special Forces have been equipped with new 12.7 mm caliber sniper rifles. This weapon is used against the enemy’s vehicles, whether armored or not, and against the enemy’s fixed stations,” said the Special Forces snipers.

According to them, the new weapon has its advantages, however, modern weapons need professionals.

"The weapon has a different caliber that is larger and offers us a longer shooting distance than the ones we were using. The weapons we used have an accuracy of 1-800 meters or up to 1200 meters, and this allows us to shoot up to 2 thousand meters with precise accuracy," said the Special Forces snipers. /m.m//a.f/p.s./
