TIRANA, August 29/ATA/ Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Anila Denaj highlighted today the strategic significance of aromatic and medicinal herbs for the development of Albanian agriculture and the economy.

Denaj stated that this sector is orienting Albanian exports towards elite international markets, creating a sustainable source of income and jobs for hundreds of people engaged in the cycle of planting, collection and processing.

“According to official data, the exports of medicinal and aromatic herbs have marked an increase of 9% in the period January-June 2025, compared to the same period last year, confirming the positive trend and long-term potential of this sector,” said the minister.

In addition to the economic impact, the plots of medicinal herbs are becoming new attractions for tourists, helping to develop rural tourism and its combination with sustainable agriculture.

This development is in line with the Ministry of Agriculture's vision for "Agriculture 2030", which aims at the European integration of the sector, strengthening domestic production and promoting innovation in agriculture. /j.p/p.s./
