Lisbon, Nov. 5, 2024 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed lower on Tuesday, with the PSI index falling 0.55% to 6,548.59 points and NOS down the most.
Of the 15 listed companies that currently make up the Lisbon stock market's benchmark index, six were up and nine were down.
NOS, which led the declines, fell 4.36% to €3.40 and BCP stood out among the risers, advancing 1.04% to €0.46.
Corticeira Amorim also fell sharply, down 3.42% to €8.20, after announcing on Monday, afer the market closed, that its profit fell 28.6% to €47.8 million in the first nine months of this year compared to the same period in 2023, penalised by "high cork consumption prices".
Corticeira Amorim said that the Board of Directors would propose the partial distribution of distributable reserves of €0.09 per share at the general shareholders' meeting scheduled for 2 December.
EDP fell 1.89% to €3.58, Jerónimo Martins dropped 1.62% to €18.21, EDP Renováveis fell 1.40% to €12.64 and CTT fell 1.27% to €4.28.
The shares that closed the session with falls of less than % were Semapa (14.10 euros), Altri (5.05 euros) and Ibersol (7.38 euros).
Among the companies that stopped the PSI index from falling further were, in addition to BCP, Sonae, which added 0.98% to close at €0.93, Galp, which advanced 0.50% to €16.18 and Mota-Engil, which gained 0.24% to €2.54.
In the same vein, REN rose 0.22% to €2.31 and Navigator recorded a slight increase of 0.06% to €3.51.
In the rest of Europe, Frankfurt rose 0.57%, Paris 0.48% and Madrid 0.29%, but London and Milan closed in negative territory with falls of 0.14% and 0.20% respectively.
