HINA - Split's Dalmatia Tower wins international award

ZAGREB, 26 Oct (Hina) - The highest skyscraper in Croatia, Split's Dalmatia Tower, has won the prestigious international Commercial Real Estate Award in the category Mixed-use Project of the Year, the Westgate Group, of which the skyscraper is part, said on Friday.

The award was presented by the Budapest-based organisation EuropaProperty, which brings together the most prominent architects, investors, designers and managers from the world of real estate across Europe and specialises in specialist publications and conference organisation.

Westgate Group owner Josip Komar said this was the third international award for the project, which, he said, proves its importance also on the international real estate scene.

"Our project is special because it is a result of a team of Croatian experts - from the investor and the architect and project manager to the construction engineers and contractors," Komar said.

Dalmatia Tower is 135 metres high and around 1,000 people work in it. The project was financially assisted by the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (HBOR) and it was designed by architect Otto Barić.

The building houses the prestigious AC Hotel, part of the world's largest hotel chain Marriot International, and a number of commercial spaces.
