Luanda, Oct. 2, 2024 (Lusa) - The future of oil and gas is to be discussed on Wednesday and Thursday at the Angola Oil & Gas conference in Luanda, where international experts, investors and the world's main operators are to debate prospects for the sector.
With this year's theme being ‘Boosting Exploration and Development for Increased Production in Angola’ the conference and associated trade fair, which are taking place for a fifth time, are expected to bring to Luanda 2,500 delegates from 40 countries and more than 100 speakers from 500 organisations, demonstrating the weight in Angola of a sector thta represents more than $30 billion (€26.89 billion) annually and 95% of the country's exports.
The conference will be opened by Angola's president, João Lourenço, and the minister of petroleum and natural resources, Diamantino Azevedo, and will feature sessions with the heads of Totalenergies, Azule Energy, ENI, Exxonmobil and Chevron - all multinationals operating blocks in Angola, as well as the country's state-owned oil company Sonangol.
On an international level, ministers responsible for oil from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Namibia and the Ivory Coast, and the secretary general of the African Organisation of Oil Producers are also to be present.
The event, organised by South Africa-based Energy Capital & Power, is staged in partnership with Angola's Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, the National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) and the African Energy Chamber, an advocacy group also based in South Africa.
