Cyprus participated in the 3rd Global Geographical Indications Products Expo that was held in the city Luzhou in China 19-22 of September, during which its local products halloumi cheese and commandaria wine received awards.
According to an official press release, the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, through the Trade Center of the Republic of Cyprus in Beijing, participated with an information stand at the 3rd Global Geographical Indications Products Expo, in Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, China.
Cypriot products commandaria wine and halloumi cheese received awards in the competition, which was held to highlight the most emblematic EU geographical indications presented at the exhibition.
According to an official press release, a large number of traders active in the field of agri-food products, had the opportunity to visit the Cypriot pavilion and learn about and try Cypriot quality products included in the Geographical Indications of the European Union (EU), such as wine, commandaria, zivania and halloumi.
Visitors included several officials, like the Mayor of Luzhou.
The exhibition, which has been held annually since 2021, hosted 900 companies from 20 countries and showcased 3,200 products. It attracted over 22,000 visitors.
