Lisbon, July 31, 2024 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Wednesday, with the PSI index up 1.04% to 6,708.39 points and Jerónimo Martins rising 5.62% after four consecutive falls.
Of the 16 listed companies that make up the PSI index, 10 were up, five were down and Navigator was unchanged.
Jerónimo Martins led the risers with a gain of 5.62% to €16.15, after a series of falls following the presentation of results on the 24th, with profits falling by 29% in the first half of the year.
Sonae also stood out with a rise of 2.39% to €0.84, after announcing on Tuesday that it recorded net profits attributable to shareholders of €75 million in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 14%.
Mota-Engil rose 2.14% to €3.63, Galp 1.97% to €19.45, Ibersol 1.75% to €6.98 and Semapa 1.49% to €14.96.
BCP advanced 0.88% to €0.39 and announced after the stock exchange closed that it made a profit of €485.3 million in the first half of the year, an increase of 14.7% compared to the same period last year.
Altri (€5.03), CTT (€4.18) and Greenvolt (€8.32) finished with valuations of less than 0.60%.
On the downside, NOS fell 0.84% to €3.56, REN dropped 0.64% to €2.35 and Corticeira Amorim fell 0.55% to €9.10.
Still in negative territory, EDP dropped 0.18% to €3.80 and EDP Renováveis fell 0.14% to €14.34.
The main European stock exchanges saw rises and falls. London rose 1.13%, Paris 0.76%, and Frankfurt 0.73%, but Madrid lost 1.23% and Milan 0.43%.
