Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Egyptair starts direct Lisbon-Cairo flights

Lisbon, July 24, 2024 (Lusa) - Egyptair has started a direct flight between Lisbon and Cairo twice a week, ANA - Aeroportos de Portugal announced on Wednesday.

‘Since 23 July, Egypt's National Day, Egyptair has been operating two flights a week between Lisbon and Cairo,’ said the company responsible for managing 10 airports in Portugal in a statement.

This is an important route for Portugal and Egypt, as it provides a ‘direct link between two historic capitals’ and creates a ‘gateway’ for travellers to ‘explore the rich cultural, historical and economic landscapes of both countries,’ it said.

The new route will be flown on an Airbus A321neo aircraft and will take approximately 5 hours and 20 minutes.

‘We are very pleased to welcome Egyptair back to Lisbon Airport with the new Cairo route’ and this connection “will promote stronger ties between our cities, encouraging both tourism and business travel”, says the commercial director of ANA|VINCI Airports, in the press release.

Amr Adawy, Egyptair's commercial vice-president, points out that ‘the new operation to Lisbon is part of the expansion plan adopted by Egyptair’.

ANA - Aeroportos de Portugal became part of the VINCI Airports network in September 2013.
