Lisbon, July 19, 2024 (Lusa) - Portugal's National Cybersecurity Centre (CNCS) is "monitoring the case of Microsoft's global computer failure", with "several organisations affected in national cyberspace", and asks that these be "promptly reported", an official source told Lusa on Friday.
Contacted by Lusa, an official National Cybersecurity Centre source acknowledged that there are ‘several organisations affected in national cyberspace, although with varying degrees of impact’.
So far ‘there is no evidence to suggest that this is a malicious act’, the National Cybersecurity Centre said.
According to the organisation, ‘CERT.PT is actively contacting the affected organisations, offering support as deemed necessary, and mitigation measures have already been communicated’.
The National Cybersecurity Centre asked that ‘any situations related to this incident should be promptly reported to this service by emailing cert@cert.pt or calling (+351) 210 497 399’.
According to information available at https://dyn.cncs.gov.pt/pt/alerta-detalhe/art/135881/falha-critica-crowdstrike, ‘critical faults associated with Crowdstrike's Falcon Sensor tool were identified when the equipment was booted up, after a Crowdstrike update’.
These ‘problems can be displayed as a “bluescreen” or an indication of a “bugcheck” error’.
This link explains how to resolve the problem, and ‘CERT.PT will update this information whenever necessary’.
