Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market falls 0,34% pressured by EDP

Lisbon, July 8, 2024 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed lower on Monday and its benchmark index, PSI, fell 0.34% to 6,655.83 points, with the EDP group leading the declines.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the PSI index, seven rose, seven fell and two remained unchanged.

Leading the declines, EDP fell 2.26% to €3.55 and EDP Renováveis dropped 1.53% to €13.51.

In the opposite direction, Corticeira Amorim stood out among the risers (2.15% to €9.49).

The biggest risers were BCP (1.99% to €0.37) and NOS (1.33% to €3.42).

Navigator advanced 0.52% to €3.85, while Sonae (€0.90), Semapa (€14.60) and Greenvolt (€8.34) appreciated less than 0.50%.

After the two EDP group companies, REN fell 1.29% to €2.29, Jerónimo Martins lost 1.12% to €18.51 and Galp fell 1.04% to €20.04.

Galp's refining margin fell by 36% in the second quarter of this year compared to the previous one, from $12.00 to $7.70 per barrel of oil, and production fell by 1%, the energy company announced today.

Altri (€5.35) and CTT (€4.15) ended the quarter down by under 0.5%.

Mota-Engil (€3.48) and Ibersol (€6.92) were unchanged.

The main European stock exchanges almost all closed in the red, with Paris down 0.63% in the first session after the second round of parliamentary elections won by the left, which was, however, far from an absolute majority in the National Assembly.

With smaller declines, London lost 0.13%, Frankfurt fell 0.02% and Madrid 0.01%. Milan closed with a rise of 0.17 %.
