ATA - BoA: Real estate sector attracts 23% of FDI flows into Albania in Q1, 2024

TIRANA, July 4 /ATA/ - Foreign direct investment (FDI) flows into Albania have been steadily increasing, mostly driven by the country’s real estate sector and the high margin of profits reinvested in various sectors of the economy.

The Bank of Albania said Thursday that investment in the real estate sector accounted for around 23% of the total value of the FDI flows into the country in the first quarter of 2024.

The quarterly data confirm an upward trend of FDI flows into the country’s financial and oil sectors in the last few years.

FDI flows into the financial sector accounted for 21% of the total, the oil sector constituted 13%, energy and communication sectors accounted for 5% of the total volume of investment each.

According to the Central Bank data, FDI flows to Albania amounted to 1.49 billion euros last year, registering an 8.7% year-on-year increase, with the investment share in the country’s real sector estimated at around 22% of the total value.
