ANA/MPA - Italian film festival kicks off online on February 12

The 1st-Italian film festival will be held from February 12-22 at the online platform of the Greek Film Archive&Film Museum, titled "Cinema made in Italy/Athens". Showcasing 12 feature films, including 11 fiction films and 5 documentaries, the festival is "a first-rate opportunity for the Greek public to further acquaint itself with its neighbor, with whom they share cultural, economic, scientific and most importantly, friendly ties - founded on distinguished kinships, going back centuries", was pointed out by Anna Mondavio, director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Athens, which co-organized the film festival. "We hope that this festival will be established on an annual basis", she added. The festival's program covers "all the contemporary trends of New Italian cinema," said the Greek Film Archive's President Maria Komninos, with themes "inspired by family, love and the politics of identities in contemporary Italy." The 2020 film "La rivoluzione siamo noi" ("We are the revolution") by director Ilaria Freccia will open the festival on Friday, February 12, and can be watched online free of charge from midday to midnight on the day. A ticket is required for subsequent viewings. All films shown in the festival will be available via ticket purchasing as of Saturday February 13. Apart from the Italian Cultural Institute in Athens, the film festival is co-organized by the Luce-Cinecitta Institute, itself subsidized by the Italian Ministry for Culture, in the context of the Tempo Forte cultural collaboration agreement between Greece and Italy.
