Lisbon, Oct. 6, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market was trading higher on Tuesday morning, with all PSI constituents rising, led by EDP Renewables, which was up 1.95% to €12.57.
At around 9.40 am in Lisbon, the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) was up 1.22% at 9,467.95 points, with all 16 PSI stocks gaining ground.
EDP Renewables shares were followed by those of Sonae (up 1.49% to €2.05), Corticeira Amorim and BCP, which both rose by 1.33% to €6.85 and €1.18 respectively.
Also on the rise were EDP, Jerónimo Martins and Teixeira Duarte, which advanced by 1.32% to €4.84, 1.25% to €17.04 and 1.09% to €0.47 respectively.
To a lesser extent, Semapa, Mota-Engil and Navigator rose by 0.95% to €19.22, 0.79% to €4.87 and 0.78% to €3.10 respectively.
Similarly, NOS, REN and Altri rose by 0.74% to €5.46, 0.57% to €3.54 and 0.56% to €4.47.
The other three companies whose share prices rose were CTT (up 0.51% to €5.89), Ibersol (up 0.41% to €9.78) and Galp (up 0.32% to €22.15).
In Europe, the main stock markets opened higher today, in a session focused on sovereign debt yields, the falling price of oil and the depreciation of the euro.
The euro was stronger against the dollar but remained below $1.13 – its lowest level since May 2025 – today rising by 0.13% to $1.1238 on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market.
Yields on 10-year US government bonds fell to 5.287%, whilst those on 10-year German government bonds fell to 3.439%.
As for oil, the price of the benchmark Brent crude contract in Europe fell by 0.31% to $100.01 per barrel today.
US index futures are up 0.46% for the Dow Jones and 0.18% for the tech-heavy Nasdaq, after closing on Monday up 0.46% and 0.18% respectively.
Wall Street closed higher on Monday, with the Nasdaq hitting a new record high, driven by major tech firms involved in the development of artificial intelligence (AI).
Highlights on today's macroeconomic calendar include, in Europe, eurozone retail sales – which are expected to have improved – and German factory orders; and in the US, the August trade balance and the Redbook retail sales index.
