Lisbon, Sept. 3, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market ended the day's trading close to the ‘break-even point' on Thursday, with the PSI falling 0.04% to 9,401.50 points, with the EDP Group and Jerónimo Martins contributing to the modest decline, whilst BCP managed to limit greater losses.
Of the 16 listed companies that make up the national benchmark index, nine closed in the ‘red', six in the ‘green' and Semapa remained unchanged, trading at €20.75.
Among the ‘heavyweights' that influenced the PSI's performance were movements in the shares of the EDP group, Jerónimo Martins and Galp Energia.
EDP Renováveis shares fell by 1.05% to €13.20, whilst those of the ‘parent company' dropped by 0.73% to €4.63.
Shares in the retailer that owns Pingo Doce fell by 0.83% to €18.01, whilst shares in the Portuguese oil company fell by 0.52% to €21.
The fourth trading session of the week also saw paper manufacturers Altri and Navigator close lower (Altri fell by €1.58 to €4.68, whilst Navigator slipped by 0.86% to €3.24), as well as Sonae SGPS, which fell by 0.74% to €2.02.
Meanwhile, Corticeira Amorim fell by 0.71% to €7.02, and Ibersol dropped by 0.58% to €10.20.
On the other hand, BCP led the gains, rising by 2.50% to €1.15, helping to limit further significant movement in the national benchmark index.
In the other major European markets, Spain's IBEX-35 rose by 1.12%, the UK's FTSE 100 rose by 0.70%, Germany's DAX rose by 0.63%, and France's CAC-40 rose by 0.07%.
