Lisbon, Aug. 31, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed flat on Monday, with the PSI rising 0.07% to 9,437.18 points, buoyed by gains of over 2% in Galp Energia.
Of the 16 listed companies that make up the national benchmark index, four closed in the green, 11 in the red and REN remained unchanged at €3.51.
Galp Energia was the main driver keeping the PSI in positive territory, rising 2.74% to €21.40.
Also closing higher were Semapa, which rose 2.42% to €21.20, NOS, which rose 0.72%, to €5.04 and Jerónimo Martins, which gained 0.17% to €18.
At the other end of the scale, with losses of more than 1%, were Mota-Engil, which fell by 1.29% to €4.75, and EDP Renewables, which lost 1.23% to €13.66.
Apart from EDP, amongst the PSI index ‘heavyweights', EDP fell by 0.43% to €4.68 and BCP fell by 0.09% to €1.12.
On the other major European markets, the day was generally negative: the German DAX fell by 1.17%, the French CAC-40 retreated by 0.79% and the Spanish IBEX-35 fell by 0.34%, whilst the British market was closed for the August bank holiday.
