Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stocks close lower among a relatively red Europe

Lisbon, Aug. 27, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed lower on Thursday, with the PSI index falling by 0.61% to 9,389.24 points, against a largely positive backdrop across Europe.

The 16 listed companies that make up the PSI were mixed today, with eight advancing and another eight consolidating gains.

Galp led the decliners, falling 2.08% to €20.71, followed by REN, which dropped 1.54% to €3.51.

Jerónimo Martins (€18.00), Sonae SGPS (€2.01), EDP (€4.67), EDP Renováveis (€13.73), BCP (€1.11) and Altri (€4.71) all recorded gains of less than 1%.

At the other end of the scale, Mota-Engil led the gains, rising by 3.88% to 4.82 euros.

Mota-Engil posted a profit of €74 million in the first half of the year, a 24% increase compared with the first half of 2025, the construction firm announced today.

Between January and June, the company's turnover amounted to €2.898 billion, up 6% compared with the same period last year.

Meanwhile, earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose by 10% to €487 million.

CTT (€6.59), Teixeira Duarte (€0.48), Ibersol (€10.42), Corticeira Amorim (€7.02), Navigator (€3.27), Semapa (€20.70) and NOS (€4.96).

Elsewhere in Europe, Paris fell by 1.68% and Madrid by 0.93%, whilst London fell by 0.79%; Frankfurt, however, rose by 0.31%.
